How Does It Work?
Our servers are now automatically monitoring IP Address activity. The IP Address is a unique string of numbers connected to each computer that connects to the internet. Using the IP address, we have access to your visitor location. (Google Analytics does this to track visitor data. We link to Google Analytics for every website we build and give you that information!).
So, What Are The Differences Between Analytics & GEO IP?
While Analytics data can be used to create targeted ads, track visitor data, see how your site was accessed, etc. The new GEO IP feature we install on every website we host allows us to change specific text, data, phone numbers, addresses, etc. For example, you may want to change the welcome message on your site to be different for specific states or countries. Or you may wish to have your call to action mention a specific phone number depending on the region.
What Are Your Options?
We can specify (or remove) content based on these location parameters. Remember that this works off the visitor’s internet provider and computer IP Address. Meaning, if they are using a VPN (Virtual Private Network), or their ISP (Internet Service Provider) is based in a different city than their residence, it may be off just a bit.
