Are you at risk of an ADA Compliance Lawsuit?

Approximately 12 million people 40 years and over in the United States have a vision impairment, including 1 million who are blind, 3 million who have vision impairment after correction, and 8 million who have vision impairment due to uncorrected refractive error (CDC).

Web Design

Skillful Antics creates every website fresh and new and many of the things we do already comply with many ADA regulations. Things like image alt tags, contrast issues, screen reader searchable text, etc. are included in every website built. So what’s the difference between a standard website and an ADA compliant website?

ADA Compliant Web Design

This article by the W3C organization does a great job explaining all the WCAG 2.1 requirements ranging from Level A to Level AAA if you would like a more detailed reading. As you can see, by a quick glance, there are quite a few more restrictions than just image alt tags. Things from the color and size of the text to iframe CSS updates to keyboard accessibility and more.

Eligible small businesses use Form 8826 to claim the disabled access credit. This credit is part of the general business credit. Meaning the IRS is willing to cover up to 50% of your ADA Compliance updates! Download Form 8826 to learn more.

ADA Compliant Package

Every ADA Compliant website takes a little extra time to double-check and audit each website against Level A and Level AA compliance. In order to build a true – no risk – a website we’ll need to start from scratch at a custom price.

Every ADA Compliant Website Includes:

Here are some great things to look out for when building an ADA Compliant website!

Text Alternatives

Provide text alternatives for any non-text content so that it can be changed into other forms people need, such as large print, braille, speech, symbols or simpler language.

Website Movement

Certain timing restrictions are put in place for sliders and slideshows. Things that move, blink, scroll, auto update, etc. that starts automatically has pause/stop/hide variables linked to onscreen time.

Predictability and Input Assistance

On Focus, On Input, etc. need to have initiate changes in context as well as Error Identifications, suggestions, label instructions all need to be compliant.

Distinguishable Content

Make it easier for users to see and hear content including separating foreground from background.

Time-based Media

Captions and audio descriptions for pre-recorded and live video that you are showcasing on your website.

Understandables

Each website needs a human default language assigned and abbreviations / unusual words have their own restrictions.

Adaptable Information

Create content that can be presented in different ways (for example simpler layout) without losing information or structure.

Use of Color

Color is not used as the only visual means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element.

Seizures and Physical Reactions

Do not design content in a way that is known to cause seizures or physical reactions like flashes more than 3x a second, animations and interactions, etc.

Navigation Compliance

Focus Order, Headings and Labels, Focus Visible Locations, Section headings and more all have specific standards of compliance.

Input Labels

Make it easier for users to operate functionality through various inputs beyond keyboard. (Names in Labels, Target Size, Pointer Gestures, etc.)

Robust Compliance

Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

Contrast Minimums

The visual presentation of text and images of text has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, with a few exceptions regarding large text, logo types, and more.

Keyboard Accessibility

All functionality of the content is operable through a keyboard interface without requiring specific timings for individual keystrokes, except where the underlying function requires input that depends on the path of the user’s movement and not just the endpoints.

Let’s Talk About Hosting

It will simply not get better than this. Record speeds, monthly updates & backups, extreme security, SSL (included).
Our level of White Glove service will pamper you beyond expectation.

Record Speeds

Independently tested, our servers load in less than 1/4 second. Now that’s fast (about 8x faster than shared hosting). We use industry leading cacheing, a content deliver network (CDN), and more to ensure your website is as fast as it can be.

Business Emails

We use Google Apps for Business. You’ll have access to @yourdomain.com email address, the Google Drive, shared Calendar, and more; we’ll set this up for you at no additional cost!

Extreem Security

You’re website will be like a bank when we get through with it. We include an SSL (encrypts everything), DDoS Protection, brute force spamming, firewalls, malware scanning, and more. (This might be what we are most proud about).

Backups & Up To Date

Every day we back up your entire site! Not only that, but each month we update your plugins and database, clear unnecessary bulk, and send you a report to let you know what we did – now that’s service.
